
Cats Tie for Lowest Round to Close Out Lady Paladin Invitational

GREENVILLE, S.C.– The Kansas State women's golf team tied for the lowest round-three score on Sunday as the Wildcats carded an impressive even-par 288 during the final round of the Lady Paladin Invitational held at the par-72, 6,278-yard Furman University Golf Course.
The Wildcats moved up four spots during the final round to tie for seventh place with a 54-hole score of 24-over par 888. They were led in the final round by senior Chloe Weir, who carded a 3-under par 69 to tie her career low round. The Belfast, Northern Ireland, native tied for 43rdwith a score of 9-over par 225.
Sophomores Reid Isaac and Niamh McSherry also turned in solid round-three performances as each shot an even-par 72. Isaac recorded her first top-10 finish of the season and third of her career as she tied for 10thplace at 1-over par 217. McSherry finished six strokes behind Isaac at 7-over par 223 to tie for 35thplace.
"Today was a good way to finish," head coach Kristi Knight said. "Chole had a great round. She has fought her ball striking for two weeks and figured out a way to get around the course. Reid and Niamh played very well. We had a lot of birdie looks but did not get many to fall. I am proud of the ladies. It has been a struggle and we kept improving. We still left a few shots out there today, but we scored the way we were capable of."
K-State sophomore Ella Adams finished with a 12-over par 228 to tie for 62nd, while freshman Briony Bayles shot a 13-pver par 229 to tie for 65th.
Tournament host Furman held on to win its invitational as the eighth-ranked Lady Paladins finished at 8-under par 856 to top second-place Kennesaw State by 14 strokes. Haylee Harford of Furman won the individual title with a 9-under par 207.
The Wildcats will be back in action October 8-9 as they compete at Illini Invitational in Medinah, Illinois.
