
K-State Sets Program Record with 17 Academic All-Big 12 Selections

MANHATTAN, Kansas – K-State soccer placed a program-high 17 student-athletes on the Academic All-Big 12 Teams in an announcement by the league office on Wednesday.
In its first four seasons of action, Kansas State has now received 44 Academic All-Big 12 citations including 36 first team honors and eight second team recognitions.
K-State registered a program-high 15 student-athletes on the Academic All-Big 12 First Team: sophomore Emily Crain, senior Katie Cramer, junior Hannah Davis, junior Brookelynn Entz, sophomore Chloe Fisher, sophomore Taylor Gardner, junior Avery Green, senior Laramie Hall, junior Shelby Lierz, senior Emma Malsy, redshirt freshman Bailey Nemechek, junior Brooke Ramos, junior Maddie Souder, sophomore Maguire Sullivan and senior Ashley Zane.
Cramer, Entz, Gardner and Sullivan each were selected for the team with 4.0 grade point averages.
Cramer, Hall and Zane are the first Wildcats in program history to earn three career Academic All-Big 12 honors. Entz, Green, Lierz, Malsy and Souder garnered their second career honors.
The Wildcats also placed junior Christina Baxter and senior Aly Rocha on the Academic All-Big 12 Second Team. This was the first career Academic All-Big 12 honor for both student-athletes.
Nominated by each institution's director of student-athlete support services, the women's soccer academic all-league team consisted of 116 first team members combined with 12 on the second team. First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, and the second team are those who have a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of her team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
K-State will split the weekend with a road match at TCU on Thursday night at 7 p.m., and the regular season home finale on Sunday at 1 p.m., against West Virginia.
Sunday's match will feature a pre-game ribbon cutting for Buser Family Park and a post-game celebration of the 2019 seniors: Katie Cramer, Laramie Hall, Emma Malsy, Aly Rocha and Ashley Zane. The entire weekend is also Alumni Weekend, as K-State's soccer alums from the previous three seasons are invited to return for the weekend.
