MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State senior center Adam Holtorf and senior wide receiver Dalton Schoen have been named to the 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-District 7 team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced Thursday.
It is the third-straight year that Holtorf has been named to the team, becoming the first Wildcat to accomplish the feat since Tysyn Hartman (2009-11). Schoen was honored for the first time in his career.
Holtorf, who graduated last December with a 3.96 GPA in agribusiness, was named a National Football Foundation National Scholar Athlete and a finalist for the 2019 Campbell Trophy. A native of Seward, Nebraska, he was a First Team Academic All-American a year ago and is a two-time First Team Academic All-Big 12 performer.
This year, Holtorf has helped the Wildcat rushing attack average 198.8 yards per game to rank fourth in the Big 12. K-State is on track to finish in the top 10 in school history in rushing yards thanks in part to totaling 555 yards and 11 rushing scores over a two-game span against then-No. 5 Oklahoma and Kansas, part of a three-game winning streak that made the Wildcats bowl eligible.
A native of Overland Park, Kansas, Schoen earned his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with a 3.78 GPA last May, and he is currently pursuing a master's in data analytics where he holds a 3.5 GPA.
Schoen, a two-time First Team Academic All-Big 12 performer, has hauled in 30 receptions for 457 yards and three touchdowns this season. In his third year as a starter, Schoen has averaged 17.02 yards per reception in his career to rank seventh in school history and 17th in Big 12 history. His high average is thanks to his eight career touchdowns that have spanned an average of 35.9 yards.
By being named Academic All-District 7 honorees, Holtorf and Schoen now advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, with first- and second-team Academic All-America honorees being announced in early December.
K-State hosts West Virginia this Saturday at 2:30 p.m., inside Bill Snyder Family Stadium in a game that will be televised by ESPN.
