MANHATTAN, Kan. – Former K-State All-American and Big Eight Player of the Year Craig Wilson was elected to the Kansas Baseball Hall of Fame and will be inducted on February 8, 2020, the organization announced Tuesday.

Wilson, a native of Franklin Park, Illinois, was a four-year starting infielder for K-State (1989-92). In the 1992 season, Wilson hit .416 – at the time a school record and currently the fifth-highest season average in program history – in becoming K-State's first consensus All-America selection and first conference player of the year.

During his Wildcat career, Wilson amassed 282 base hits, 58 doubles, 15 triples and 176 RBI – all ranking in the top five in K-State history. Wilson is the program record-holder with 250 games played in a Wildcat uniform.

A 13th-round selection by the Chicago White Sox in the 1992 Major League Baseball Draft, Wilson made his big-league debut with the White Sox in 1998. He played three seasons in Chicago, with a career average of .272 with 101 base hits, 16 doubles and seven home runs.

Wilson was a member of the 1992 U.S. Olympic Baseball Team that competed in Barcelona and represented Team USA at the 1991 Pan-American Games.

The annual induction ceremony will take place at LaVela banquet hall in Wichita (6147 East 13th Street North) beginning at noon, as the Kansas Baseball Hall of Fame will induct six new members along with the 1989 Wichita State national championship team.
