Late Fourth Quarter Run Sends K-State to Win

KANSAS CITY, Missouri – K-State used a 13-0 run on Saturday in its first game in Municipal Auditorium since 2012 to secure a 74-67 win over Kansas City.

K-State (5-4) trailed 67-61 with just under six minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. The Wildcats would start the game-defining run with layups from Ayoka Lee and Angela Harris to pull within two, 67-65.

Lee would then bury two of her career-high 12 made free throws to even the game at 67 with 2:51 remaining. Jasauen Beard then banked in a 15-foot jumper to give the Wildcats a 69-67 lead.

After an offensive rebound from a missed jumper, Harris would beat the shot clock with a three-pointer to give K-State a 72-67 lead with 23 seconds to play. Harris would then ice the game with two free throws with 13 seconds left.

K-State was led by Lee with 24 points and 14 rebounds. This was her fifth double-double of the season. Harris added a personal season-high with 22 points, six rebounds and five assists.

Senior Peyton Williams finished with her sixth double-double of the season with 13 points, 15 rebounds, three blocks and three assists. Saturday's effort was the 27th double-double of Williams's career and she ranks tied for third in program history for career double-doubles.

Kansas City (5-6) was led by Ericka Mattingly with 18 points, while Cristiana Soriano and Emily Ivory added 12 each.

K-State finished the afternoon shooting 42.9 percent (27-of-63) from the field, while Kansas City registered a 38.0 percent effort (27-of-71). K-State held the edge on the boards, 48-35.

K-State will conclude its three-game road trip on Saturday, December 21, as the Wildcats travel to (3/3) Oregon. Saturday's game will tip at 2 p.m. (CT) and will be broadcast on Oregon Live Stream and on the K-State Sports Network and for free at kstatesports.com.
