K-State Kicks Off Series with UTRGV Friday

MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State continues its season-long 10-game homestand as UT Rio Grande Valley visits Tointon Family Stadium for a three-game series beginning Friday at 6 p.m.

Game 2 of the series is scheduled for Saturday at 4 p.m. with the series finale set for Sunday at 1 p.m. As a reminder, fans will now enter through a gate near the left field bullpen with the regular entrance on College Avenue closed due to continued renovations of Tointon Family Stadium.

The Wildcats (8-8) are coming off a two-game sweep of Northern Illinois during the week in which the Cats recorded 13 extra-base hits in two comeback victories. UTRGV (12-5) has won 10 of its last 12 games and the Vaqueros will play their first games outside the state of Texas.

Friday's game marks another Dollar Dog Friday, with hot dogs available for only $1. Sunday features a Family 4-Pack where fans can get four tickets along with four $10 concessions vouchers for just $38.

The series opener will stream free on K-StateHD.TV (K-State Sports Roku app and Apple TV) along with bring broadcast on FOX College Sports Pacific. Games 2 and 3 can be seen on ESPN3 and the ESPN app. Coverage is also available on News Radio KMAN (93.3 FM, 1350 AM) with streaming audio at K-StateSports.com/watch.

A LOOK AT K-STATE
K-State (8-8) continues a 10-game homestand with a three-game series against UT Rio Grande Valley (12-5) ... The Wildcats are coming off a two-game midweek sweep of Northern Illinois, where they overcame early deficits in both games to even their record ... In the two-game set with NIU, the Cats registered 13 extra-base hits, including five doubles, five triples and three home runs ... K-State erased a six-run deficit by scoring nine unanswered runs in a 9-6 win in Game 1 and eight straight runs helped the Wildcats bounce back from an early 3-0 hole in the series finale ... Zach Kokoska led the Cats by going 6-for-7 with a double, two triples and a home run against the Huskies ... Caleb Littlejim homered in each game, including a game-tying solo home run in the seventh inning on Tuesday ... Littlejim leads the Wildcats with four homers on the season ... The Wildcat bullpen held NIU without a run on two hits in the two games over 11 2/3 innings ... Wicks has turned in two quality outings in his four starts while K-State is 4-0 in games he has started ... His 25 strikeouts are tied for fifth-most in the Big 12 and Wicks has issued only six walks over his 23 innings pitched.

K-State hit three home runs in its two-game series sweep of NIU, upping its season home run total to 14 ... With a roster that retained just six home runs from 2018, K-State has had eight different players hit a home run - each the first of their respective careers ...
