K-State to End Homestand on Thursday Against Wichita State

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The 37th-ranked K-State Wildcats will conclude a six-match homestand on Thursday as they host No. 40 Wichita State at Body First Indoor Tennis Center at 2 p.m.
The Shockers (7-4), who enter Thursday on a six-match winning streak, will be the fourth nationally ranked opponent the Cats will face this season (1-2). K-State seeks to snap a four-match losing skid to WSU, last winning in the series in 2014.
K-State improved its record to 9-3 after sweeping a home doubleheader on Saturday against Iowa and UMKC. K-State defeated the Hawkeyes, 4-1, prior to a 4-0 sweep of the Kangaroos at Body First Indoor Tennis Center.
Both matches were closed by sophomore Anna Turco, who picked up the fourth and final point in each match. The Italy product pushed her singles record to 7-3 and has won five of her last six singles matches overall.
After the weekend's competition, the Cats are now 36-20 in singles and 16-14 in doubles. Freshman Karine-Marion Job leads the team in singles with a record of 9-2, while sophomore Margot Decker is 7-4.
Decker and Turco, playing at the top doubles position together, own a 6-6 mark together. Junior Ines Mesquita and Job have a team-best 5-1 doubles record from the No. 2 spot in the lineup.
Wichita State ran its winning streak to six matches after defeating Cincinnati on Sunday, 4-2. The Shockers, who have an overall singles record of 24-27, are led by Sandra Honigova with her 7-3 record at the No. 1 position
In doubles, the team is led by the 46th-ranked doubles tandem of Fatima Bizhukova and Marta Bellucca.
K-State is 23-25 against Wichita State all-time and 11-10 at home.
