
Brennan, Wicks Named to Pair of Watch Lists

MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State junior Will Brennan was named to the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Watch List while freshman Jordan Wicks was added to the 2019 Pitcher of the Year Watch List, the College Baseball Foundation announced.
Brennan, an outfielder and left-handed pitcher, was one of 25 to be selected to the initial watch list for the Olerud Award. Wicks is among 69 of the country's top arms added to the 2019 Pitcher of the Year Watch List.
At the plate, Brennan currently rates as the nation's toughest player to strike out, with six strikeouts in 142 at-bats (23.7 at-bats per strikeout). The Stillwell product owns a slash line of .303/.392/.451 with a team-high 13 doubles. He ranks in the Big 12's top 10 in hits with 43 and doubles.
Brennan has made six starts on the mound to go with four relief appearances, including a six-out save recorded in the series opener at No. 14 Texas last Friday. The southpaw has struck out 34 hitters in 41 1/3 innings with an earned run average of 5.88 on the season. Brennan has not allowed in earned run in his last two appearances, striking out five over three innings.
Wicks sealed K-State's road series victory over the Longhorns with a five-hit shutout, completing the program's second-ever road series win over a ranked opponent. Wicks leads the Wildcats with a 5-1 record and 63 strikeouts in nine starts to go with a 2.11 ERA.
The Conway, Arkansas, native ranks in the league's top five in wins (5), ERA (2.11), innings pitched (55.1) and strikeouts (63). Wicks' opponent average of .221 ranks eighth in the Big 12 while the Cats are 7-2 this season in games he starts.
Brennan was one of three two-way players in the Big 12 named to the John Olerud Watch List while Wicks was one of six hurlers in the conference selected to the Pitcher of the Year list.
