
Seven Wildcats Earn Academic All-Big 12 Honors

MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State placed seven student-athletes on the 2019 Academic All-Big 12 Baseball Teams, including three first team selections, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Juniors Will Brennan and Caleb Littlejim along with senior Mitch Zubradt all earned first team recognition. Second team selections include senior Brogan Heinen, sophomore Jordan Maxson, sophomore Terrence Spurlin and junior Cameron Thompson.
Brennan and Zubradt each earn their second-career first team honors while Heinen collects the third academic all-conference nod of his career (2 second team, 1 first team). Littlejim, Maxson, Spurlin and Thompson are all recognized for the initial time in their respective careers.
In total, the 2019 Academic All-Big 12 Team featured 91 student-athletes. Sixty-three made up the first team with 28 on the second team.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or in the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
The Wildcats (25-28, 8-13 Big 12) take on KU in the 2019 edition of the Dillons Sunflower Showdown beginning Friday at 6 p.m. from Hoglund Ballpark. The three-game series will air on ESPN+ and the ESPN app. Radio coverage is available on the K-State Sports Radio Network, News Radio KMAN (93.3 FM, 1350 AM) with online audio at K-StateSports.com/watch.
