Rovelto, Ott Garner USTFCCCA Regional Recognition

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State Track and Field Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Cliff Rovelto and Assistant Coach Nathan Ott earned Regional recognition by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the organization announced on Friday, with Rovelto being named the Midwest Region Women's Coach of the Year and Ott being named the Midwest Region Women's Assistant Coach of the Year.

Rovelto, in his 31st year as Director of Track and Field and Cross Country at K-State, guided the K-State women to a runner-up finish at the Big 12 Championship on May 10-12, where the Wildcats scored a program record 156.5 points. At the Big 12 Championship, six Wildcats won individual titles, including senior Ranae McKenzie (400-meter hurdles) and sophomore Tejaswin Shankar (high jump), who are coached by Rovelto.

Following the Big 12 Championship, Rovelto was named Big 12 women's outdoor Coach of the Year for the fifth time in his career, while garnering his third career USTFCCCA Midwest Region women's Coach of the Year honor, the most in the award's history.

Ott, in his first year with the Wildcats, guided the K-State throws unit to score 48 of the 156.5 points at the Big 12 Championships, including two individual Big 12 Champions in Helene Ingvaldsen (hammer throw) and Taylor Latimer (shot put). Throughout Ott's first season with the Wildcats, he has guided several throwers to marks on the K-State top-10 list, including Latimer's No. 2 throw in K-State history in the women's shot put (17.74m/58-02.50) and Ashley Petr's No. 3 all-time throw in the discus (56.32m/184-09).

Ott will coach three women's entries the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Austin, Texas on June 5-8, including Petr (discus) and Ingvaldsen (hammer throw) and Latimer (shot put).

The Wildcats will be represented by 15 individuals at the NCAA Outdoor Championships on June 5-8 at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas. The NCAA Championships will stream live on ESPN, with a full broadcast schedule available here.
