K-State Track Set to Host 2027 USATF and World Athletics Indoor Tour

Wildcats will host one of six meets in the USATF indoor tour, the only collegiate facility
MANHATTAN, Kan. – The K-State track and field teams announce the DeLoss Dodds Invitational set for January 29-30, 2027, at the Cliff Rovelto Indoor Track, is one of six meets in the USA Track & Field (USATF) Indoor Tour. The meet will also serve as part of the World Athletics Indoor Tour for a consecutive year.
K-State is the only collegiate facility to host a meet, alongside other world class facilities. Other meets on the tour include the NYC Indoor Grand Prix in New York City, the PNC Lenny Lyles Open in Louisville, Ken., the ASICS Sound Invite in Winston Salem, N.C., the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston, Mass., and the Millrose Games back in New York City.
"I appreciate the collaborative effort by everyone at USATF and applaud the consistent effort by USATF CEO Max Siegel to bring opportunities for world ranking points to North America," head coach Travis Geopfert said. "Coach Cliff Rovelto and our administration designed and built one of the best indoor track and field facilities in the entire world. It's proven to be a fast track and great jump surfaces for some elite performances."
For a consecutive season, the DeLoss Dodds Invitational will also serve as part of the World Athletics Indoor Tour with world class athletes competing in featured events in a condensed schedule on both Friday and Saturday that will also be live streamed.
Last year multiple Olympians and World Champions competed in the World Athletics sponsored events with K-State's own Tah Chikomba winning the men's long jump at 8.09m (26' 6.5") and 2022 alum TJ Shankar winning the men's high jump at 2.26m (7' 5").
"The facility itself combined with our amazing officials and community support are going to continue to prove that Manhattan, Kansas is in fact one of the premier destinations for track and field in the entire world. I can't wait to see a tremendous crowd pack our indoor track and show some of the best athletes in the world what track and field support looks like in Manhattan, Kansas."
