
Wildcats Place 25 on Academic All-Big 12 Rowing Team

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Kansas State women's team was represented by 25 individuals on the 2019 Big 12 Academic All-Big 12 Rowing team, the Big 12 Conference announced on Thursday, including 20 first team and five second team selections.
Of the 25 K-State selections, six individuals were nominated with a 4.0 GPA, including Nikole Cain (Agricultural Education), Kaylin Edwards (Biology), Kennedy Felice (Kinesiology), Taylor Flowers (Food Science), Aubrey Gilchrist (Biology, Pre-Med) and Grace Reilly (Biochemistry – Medical, Pre-Medicine). The six individuals nominated with a 4.0 GPA were the most among any team in the Big 12.
In total, 109 members of the Academic All-Big 12 rowing team are from Kansas, K-State, Oklahoma, Texas and West Virginia, while the remaining 56 individuals are from the league's affiliate members in the sport – Alabama and Tennessee. The Wildcats had the most individuals nominated with a 4.0 GPA in the Big 12.
Of the 25 Wildcats recognized, 14 individuals made their third appearance on the Academic All-Big 12 team, while four individuals made their second appearance and seven individuals made their debut.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
