
Linares Earns Spot in ITA Top 125 Rankings

MANHATTAN, Kansas. – Kansas State junior tennis player Maria Linares was recently ranked in the preseason Top 125 rankings from the International Tennis Association (ITA), garnering a spot at No. 106.
Linares, a Maracay, Venezuela native, posted a 10-9 record in singles play last season, primarily from the No. 1 and 2 spots. During Big 12 play, Linares contributed four wins.
The last Wildcat to be ranked in the Preseason ITA National Top 125 rankings was Margot Decker, who entered the 2018 fall season with a No. 111 ranking back on September 11.
K-State participates in its first fall event of 2019 when the team heads to Auburn, Alabama to compete in the Marliss Gruver Fall Invitational beginning this Friday, September 20. The tournament will run through Sunday, September 22.
