CANCUN, Mexico - Kimberly Dietz and Ashley Sweat carded double figures, but Kansas State's late comeback was thwarted by Tulane on Wednesday evening, 60-57, at the Moon Palace Resort Grand Ballroom.

Dietz finished with a team-high 14 points, while Sweat registered 13 points and six rebounds. This is the third time this season that Dietz and Sweat have reached double figures in scoring.

Junior guard Shalee Lehning chipped in with seven points, six boards and five assists, while freshman forward Jackie Stanley tallied eight points and two blocks off the Wildcat bench.

Tulane (4-1) was paced by Brittany Lindsey with a game-high 16 points, including 12 in the second half. The Green Wave also received 11 points from Megan Valicevic and nine points and four rebounds off of the bench from Dominique Philpots.

K-State (2-2) held a 24-9 advantage with 8:34 to play in the first half, after Stanley converted a jumper in the paint. K-State was unable to build on the lead for the remainder of the half, as the Green Wave closed out the opening stanza with a 23-4 run to hold a 32-28 edge at the break.

The Wildcats battled back early in the second half and recaptured the lead at 37-36, following a Sweat three-point play at 16:38. The teams were tied five times and exchanged the lead four times in the second half, before two free throws by Ashley Langford gave Tulane the lead for good at 52-51.

The Green Wave extended the lead to five at 56-51, but consecutive Sweat jumpers cut the deficit to 56-55. Sweat converted two free throws at 1:08 to again cut the Green Wave lead to one at 58-57. The Wildcats had three possessions in the final 30 seconds, but were unable to shrink the Tulane lead after a turnover and three missed free throws.

Kansas State will conclude action at the Caribbean Challenge on Thursday night at 8 p.m. against No. 18/19 Michigan State.
