
Cross Country Names 22 Honorees to Academic All-Big 12

IRVING, Texas – Leading the Big 12 for the second year in a row, the Kansas State men's and women's cross country teams had 22 student-athletes on the Academic All-Big 12 Cross Country teams, as the conference office announced the accolades on Thursday (October 21).
The Wildcats tied Oklahoma State for most total honorees (22), while the 10 selections by the women's team tied for the most with Texas and Texas Tech. The team also led the league with seven 4.0 GPAs.
The First Team consisted of 58 men and 76 women for a total of 134 honorees.
Those receiving First Team honors included fifth year senior Travis Hodge, seniors Stephen Kielhofner, Cooper Schroeder, Alex Ferguson, Macy Heinz and Kassidy Johnson, juniors Kerby Depenbusch, Kyle Johnston, Jack Moore, Mike Rohlinger, Sydney Burton, Katie Kasunic, Delaney Kemp, Jaybe Shufelberger, Cailan Steward and Hannah Stewart and sophomores Jack Vincent, Christian Buehler and Helen Giefer.
Among those student-athletes earning Second Team honors were senior Noah Stevenson and juniors David Lutgen and Hadley Splechter.
Burton, Ferguson, Giefer, Heinz, Johnson, Steward and Stewart all earned 4.0 GPAs over the past two semesters.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
