Splechter Named Big 12 Runner of the Week

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Kansas State cross country runner Hadley Splechter has been named Big 12 Runner of the Week on Tuesday (October 5) after leading the men's team to an eighth-place finish at the Gans Creek Classic in Columbia, Missouri on October 1.
Splechter finished 17th out of 183 competitors, running a 24:28.9 in the 8K at the Gans Creek Classic. The junior finished a full second faster than his time at the team's first meet on September 18 at the Cowboy Jamboree. The Wildcat men finished eighth at the event ahead of Big 12 opponents Baylor and Kansas. This is the Kansas native's first Big 12 weekly award.
"I am glad that Hadley received the honor this week," said head coach Ryun Godfrey. "He had a good race this past weekend and it's great to be recognized."
Jack Thomas was the last Big 12 Cross Country Runner of the Week for K-State on September 10, 2019.
Splechter is the eighth K-State male cross country runner to earn Big 12 Runner of the Week honors and the fifth Wildcat to be selected under Godfrey.
The K-State cross country team will travel to Tallahassee, Florida for the Pre-National Invitational at the Apalachee Regional Park on Friday (October 15). The men's 8K will begin promptly at 7 a.m. CT and the women's 6k will commence at 7:35 a.m. CT.
