K-State Soccer Adjusts Spring Schedule
Mar 01, 2021 | Soccer
MANHATTAN, Kansas – K-State soccer has adjusted its spring schedule to include a closed friendly with Kansas City NWSL and an adjustment of a previous match at Oklahoma.
The Wildcats will travel to Kansas City and face Kansas City NWSL in a closed friendly on Saturday, March 20, at 11 a.m. The game will be played at Children's Mercy Victory Field at the Swope Soccer Village. This match replaces the previously announced Purple/White scrimmage, which was to be played in Manhattan on the same date.
The final match of the spring schedule at Oklahoma on Saturday, April 17, has been changed to a countable non-conference match instead of an exhibition. Match time in Norman, Oklahoma, is set for 1 p.m.
K-State will open its spring schedule on Saturday, March 6, at 7 p.m, against Dillons Sunflower Showdown rival Kansas at Buser Family Park. Saturday's match will be broadcast on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
Despite the departure of nine players from its 2020 fall roster, Kansas State's spring roster will feature 2020 All-Big 12 First Team selection Brookelynn Entz, sophomore forward Kyler Goins and sophomore midfielder Bailey Nemechek.
The Wildcats will also benefit this spring from the additions of transfers Aliyah El-Naggar, Jael Larson and Kursten von Klahr as each of their programs opted to either play a spring season or not compete in the 2020-21 season.
In the fall, K-State capped its Big 12-only schedule with a record of 3-6-0. This marked the most wins in league play since the program started as a member of the Big 12 in 2017.
The Wildcats, winners of three of their final five matches, clinched a seventh-place finish in the league standings which marked its highest finish in the league standings since joining the Big 12 as a soccer member in 2017.
The spring schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather. For updates to the schedule, please follow the K-State Soccer Twitter account (@KStateSOC) or the K-State Athletics Twitter account (@kstatesports).
