Mar 26, 2021 | Soccer
MANHATTAN, Kansas – K-State midfielder Brookelynn Entz added yet another honor to her trophy case on Friday, as she was named as a candidate for the 2020-21 Senior CLASS Award.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character, and competition. The complete list of candidates follows this release.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
Each of the 30 candidates has displayed a strong work ethic in the classroom and on the pitch. Outside of academics and athletics, all candidates have also been consistently involved in community service on their campus or in their communities.
The 30 women's candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists in April, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select one male candidate and one female candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four Cs of community, classroom, character, and competition.
The Senior CLASS Award winners will be announced during the 2021 NCAA Men's and Women's College Cup® championships in May.
A product of Newton, Kansas, Entz owns or is tied for 28 career, single-season or single match school records including career goals scored (15), career assists (7), total career points (37) and goals in a single-season (5, twice).
During the 2020 season, Entz was named to the All-Big 12 First Team by tying her school record for goals in a season and set a new school record for goals in Big 12 action with five.
She tied her school record for goals in a match with two, which included her fourth career game-winning goal, at Iowa State on October 30. She recorded at least one goal in two of K-State's three wins in the 2020 season.
In January, Entz became the first K-State player selected in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) Draft as she was selected in the fourth round with the 38th overall pick by Kansas City NWSL. She was also the first K-State player to be selected as a candidate for the MAC Hermann Trophy.
In the classroom, Entz is a three-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team selection majoring in psychology. In 2020, Entz earned Academic All-Big 12 First Team honors with a 4.0 grade average. In December of 2020, Entz was named the Big 12 Soccer co-Scholar-Athlete of the Year by the league's coaches.
K-State returns to action on Sunday at 1 p.m., as the Wildcats travel to Columbia, Missouri, to face Missouri.
