MANHATTAN, Kansas – In recognition of her performance last weekend in K-State soccer's two wins, junior Jesse Loren has been named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Week for August 31.
Loren, a defender from Redondo Beach, California, was a key member of K-State's two shutouts over the weekend in Clarksville, Tennessee.
In the first match of the weekend, Loren registered the first game-winning goal of her career with a seventh minute header off a corner kick. She then aided K-State's defensive unit to the 5-0 shutout win at Austin Peay. This was her third career collegiate goal and the first as a member of the Wildcats.
In a neutral site 1-0 win over North Alabama on Sunday, Loren steered K-State's defense to allowing one shot on goal on just four total attempts and helping the Wildcats to its third straight shutout.
Loren has been a part of a defensive unit that has an active streak of 298:55 of shutout soccer, which is a new school record.
For the season, Loren has started all four matches for the Wildcats. She has four shots with two on goal.
K-State continues its five-match road trip with a stop in the Rocky Mountains. The Wildcats face 2020-21 Summit League champions, Denver, on Thursday at 8 p.m. (CDT). The match will be streamed on Pioneers All-Access (subscription required). Live stats will also be available at kstatesports.com and on Twitter, @KStateSOC.
