MANHATTAN, Kan. - Kansas State head men's golf coach Grant Robbins announced on Thursday that Edmond, Oklahoma product Bryant Polhill and Scottish National Team member Harry Bent have signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Wildcats.
Polhill, who attends Oklahoma Christian School, earned a runner-up finish at the 2022 Oklahoma 3A State Championship and is ranked as the third best golfer in the Oklahoma Class of 2023 by Junior Golfscoreboard.
"Bryant is extremely talented and has the potential to be an outstanding college player," said Robbins. "He is very athletic and has added a lot of size and strength over the last year, which has helped him become very long off the tee."
The prep standout recorded four top-five finishes in AJGA events, including a win at the 2021 AJGA College Station Preview and a third place finish at the 2021 AJGA Kansas City Junior.
Polhill also finished in second place at the 2021 Oklahoma State Junior Championship and fifth place at the 2022 OGA State Championship.
"He has demonstrated the ability to compete at a very high level and should continue to grow and develop with more experience," said Robbins. "Bryant comes from a great family and will be a great fit in our program."
The second addition to the class, Bent, hails from Gullane, Scotland. His play as a member of the Scottish National Team earned him status as the fourth ranked amateur golfer in Scotland and the 94th ranked U18 Golfer in Europe by European Golf Rankings.
"Harry is a big, strong player that has quickly become one of the top players in the UK over the summer," said Robbins. "I had the chance to see him play back in August at the British Boys and was really impressed with his power, consistency and his touch on and around the greens."
Bent, who represented Scotland in the 2022 Home Internationals, has found great success on the amateur circuit, including a victory at the 2022 Pro Dream Scottish Junior Masters where he shot a 64 in the final round.
Bent also won the 2021 SGF National Championship and advanced to match play at the 2022 British Boys Championship at Carnoustie. He finished in ninth place at the 2022 Scottish Boys Championship and in the top 25 at the 2022 English Boys Championship (Carris Trophy).
"He is still very young but is getting better with each tournament and has the potential to make an impact here fairly quickly," said Robbins.
The two additions will join a rising Kansas State program that is coming off the best fall season in school history. The Wildcats won three straight team championships and are ranked No. 18 in the country by Golfstat.
K-State will begin its spring season February 13-14 at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate. The spring schedule includes six regular season events before the Big 12 Championship commences April 24-26.
