
K-State Places 16 on 2022 Academic All-Big 12

MANHATTAN, Kansas – K-State soccer recorded its second-highest total of Academic All-Big 12 recipients, as 16 student-athletes earned First Team, including five honorees with 4.00 GPAs in an announcement by the league office on Wednesday.
Among the soccer programs on the 2022 Fall Academic All-Big 12 awards, K-State had the second-most honorees with 16, trailing only Texas Tech's 17. In its seven seasons of action, Kansas State has now received 85 Academic All-Big 12 citations including 76 first team honors.
K-State's 16 student-athletes on the Academic All-Big 12 First Team were: sophomore Adah Anderson, senior Rebecca Bartosh, senior Shannon Dukes, senior Aliyah El-Naggar, sophomore Kenzi Gillispie, senior Rachel Harris, junior Porter List, senior Jesse Loren, sophomore Joey Lujan, junior Erin Morrissey, senior Bailey Nemechek, senior Caylee Thornhill, senior Shae Turner, junior Maddie Weichel, senior Marisa Weichel and junior Alaina Werremeyer.
Anderson, Dukes, Thornhill, Maddie Weichel and Werremeyer each were selected for the team with 4.0 grade point averages.
Nemechek is the second Wildcat be named a four-time Academic All-Big 12 selection, while Thornhill and Turner earned their third career citations and Morrissey garnered her second career honor.
In mid-November, K-State collected a program-high six College Sports Communicators Academic All-District VII honors. The Wildcats to earn Academic All-District were El-Naggar, Nemechek, Thornhill, Maddie Weichel, Marisa Weichel and Alaina Werremeyer.
To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of her team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
