‘Cats Fall 4-3 Against Memphis

Feb 11, 2022 | Tennis

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Memphis Tigers were too much for the Kansas State women's tennis team, as they rallied to take a 4-3 decision on Friday (February 11) at Body First Indoor Tennis Center

Freshman Dinara Alloyarova finished first in the singles, defeating Monique Woog from Memphis, 6-1, 6-2, in the fifth spot.

Finishing second for K-State was senior Maria Linares. The Venezuela native took down Alisha Reayer, 6-1, 6-2.

No. 68 senior Karine-Marion Job pulled out on a close match against Aran Teixido Garcia in a three-set match. Job came out strong 6-2 but couldn't hold on and fell in the second set 6-2. It was back and forth in the third and final set, but Job came out on top 7-5.

Memphis' Camila Romero was too much for senior Rosanna Maffei, as the Atripada, Italy native was beaten 6-4, 6-3.

After coming back from a 4-0 deficit in the third set, freshman Florentine Dekkers was knocked off by Emily Meyer 6-2, 3-6, 6-4.

Senior Anna Turco fought hard in her match against Camila Soares, but was unsuccessful and dropped a 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 decision.

K-State dropped their first doubles point of the season.

Alloyarova and Turco fell to Memphis' Woog and Soares 6-2 in the No. 3 position.

The Tiger's Aran Teixido Garcia and Meyer were victorious against Job and Linares on court two, 6-2.

Due to Memphis clinching the doubles point, the match against K-State's Dekkers and Ioana Gheorghita and Memphis' Reayer and Romero was unfinished.

The Wildcats moved to a record of 3-1 on the season.

K-State will play once again and take on the Florida Atlantic Owls at 9:30 a.m., CT at Body First Indoor Tennis Center on Saturday (February 12)
