Wildcats Fall to No. 28 Washington, 4-0

SEATTLE – The Kansas State women's tennis team fell to No. 28 Washington 4-0 on Friday (February 25) at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.
The Huskies (8-4) won the doubles point and three singles matches to clinch the match over the Wildcats (4-3).
At the number one spot in singles, senior and ranked No. 96 Karine-Marion Job did all she could to take on Vanessa Wong but dropped both sets 6-2.
Freshman Dinara Alloyarova dropped set one against Kelly Leung, 6-3, at the No. 5 position. Alloyarova tried to hang on in set two but was unsuccessful and fell 7-5.
It was Hikaru Sato all the way against freshman Florentine Dekkers at the No. 4 position, as the Husky took down Dekkers, 6-3, 6-3.
Senior Rosanna Maffei was tied 1-1 against Nika Zupancic at the No. 3 spot, but the Huskies were already up and the match was left unfinished. Singles matches with seniors Maria Linares and Anna Turco also went unfinished.
In doubles, Wong and Sato took the lead early against Dekkers and senior Ioana Gheorghita and went home with the win at the No. 1 spot, 6-3.
Alloyarova and senior Anna Turco tried to make a comeback for the Wildcats at the No. 3 doubles spot but were defeated at the end by Sarah-Maude Fortin and Leung, 6-3.
K-State will hit the road one final time on Wednesday (March 2) and travel to Nebraska to take on the Cornhuskers before returning to Manhattan on Saturday (March 5) for a home matchup against Northwestern. The match against Nebraska will take place at 4 p.m., CT and the match with Northwestern will begin at 12 p.m., CT.
