MANHATTAN, Kan. – The No. 56 Kansas State women's tennis team will begin their six-match homestand on Friday (March 18) against No. 41 Texas Tech at 4 p.m., CT and on Sunday (March 20) against TCU at 12 p.m., CT. Depending on the weather, both matches will be played outside at the Mike Goss Tennis Stadium.
"We are glad to be back on our courts for the next three weekends," stated head coach Jordan Smith. "This is an important stretch in our season. If our ladies buy in and rise to the occasion, then we're in great position to extend our season in May. Everything has to be day to day and match to match, starting with being tough and our best against Texas Tech."
The six-match homestand is comprised of three ITA ranked teams and four Big 12 foes.
K-State (6-6, 0-2 Big 12) has lost 3 in a row, all against ranked opponents, including consecutive losses to top-10 teams, Oklahoma State and Oklahoma last weekend. Linares is undefeated at the number three spot (3-0) and 5-2 in the number two spot. In the last five matches, the Venezuela native has gone 4-1, claiming the only point for K-State against No. 3 Oklahoma on March 13. In Oklahoma, Linares defeated No. 44 Ivana Corley in two-sets 6-3, 6-2.
In doubles, Job and Linares are 7-2 overall while freshman Dinara Alloyarova and senior Anna Turco are 6-3.
