No. 41 Texas Tech Sweep No. 56 K-State Friday Evening

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The No. 56 Kansas State women's tennis team was swept 4-0 by No. 41 Texas Tech at Body First Indoor Tennis Center on Friday (March 18).
K-State (6-7, 0-3 Big 12) lost the doubles point in a tiebreaker before dropping singles matches at No. 1, 3, and 4 to Texas Tech (9-6, 1-2 Big 12).
After splitting the first two doubles matches, it all came down to freshman Florentine Dekkers and senior Ioana Gheorghita against Texas Tech's Cristina Tiglea and Margarita Skriabina at the number two position. K-State kept it close and ended up going into a tiebreaking set before the Red Raiders won 7-6(2).
Doubles pair freshman Dinara Alloyarova and sophomore Manami Ukita took down Olivia Peet and Metka Komac from Texas Tech 6-3 in the number three spot.
Dropping to the Red Raiders' Avelina Sayfetdinova and Kailey Evans were seniors Karine-Marion Job and Maria Linares. The duo couldn't keep the momentum going and were defeated 6-2 in the number one spot.
In singles play, Job dropped to No. 20 Texas Tech's Skriabina 6-2, 6-3, in the number one spot.
Dekkers fell in set one against No. 70 Sayfetdinova 6-2, but came back to dominate set two, 6-3. The Netherlands native couldn't keep it up in the third and final set and was defeated 6-3.
Texas Tech's Komac clinched the win for the Red Raiders after taking down senior Rosanna Maffei 6-1, 6-2.
It will be a short turnaround for the Wildcats as they prepare to play the TCU Horned Frogs in Manhattan on Sunday (March 20) at the Mike Goss Tennis Stadium. The match will begin promptly at 12 p.m. CT with doubles.
