TUCSON, Ariz. - The Kansas State women's golf team recorded a 19-over par 307 second round at the MountainView Collegiate and is in 16th place at 31-over par 607 after 36-holes on the par-72, 6,352-yard MountainView Golf Club.
"Our ball striking was not good today," head coach Kristi Knight said. "It led to higher scores."
The Wildcats are led by Napua Glossner, who is tied in 56th place at 4-over par 148. Glossner opened her day with three-straight birdies on the way to her second 2-over par 74 round of the tournament.
"Napua was able to get on track and hold on to a decent round," Knight said.
Next on the leaderboard is Haley Vargas, who carded a 6-over par 78 second round to bring her two-round total to 6-over par 150, which is good for a tie in 59th place. Manon Donche-Gay also recorded a 6-over par 78 second round and is tied for 71st at 10-over par 154.
One shot back is Remington Isaac at 11-over par 155 and in a tie for 75th place. The freshman tallied a 5-over par 77 second round. Heather Fortushniak is tied for 84th place after an 8-over par 80 second round brought her total to 15-over par 159.
Gabriela McNelly, who's competing as an individual, carded a 5-over par 77 second round and is tied for 66th place at 8-over par 152.
No. 8 San Jose State jumped into first place at 24-under par 552 and holds a two-stroke lead over No. 5 Oklahoma State thanks to a 13-under par 275 second round.
There's a three-way tie atop the individual leaderboard between the Cowboys' Han-Hsuan Yu, the Spartans' Natasha Oon and Arkansas' Kajal Mistry.
"We have to put today in the past," Knight said. "When you are in this position, it's about finishing strong and fighting for every shot."
K-State will look to make one final push in when a shotgun start begins the final round of the MountainView Collegiate on Sunday at 8 a.m. (MT). Fans can follow live scoring on BirdieFire.com.
