
K-State Sends 18 Individuals, Two Relay Teams to NCAA West Preliminary

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Kansas State track and field team will send 18 individuals and two relay squads to the 2022 NCAA West Preliminary on May 25-28 at the John McDonnell Field in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
The Wildcats will make an appearance in 13 events, 100-meter, 200-meter, 400-meter (men's and women's), 800-meter (men's and women's), 1,500-meter, 4x400-meter relay (men's and women's), high jump, long jump, triple jump, pole vault, shot put, hammer throw (men's and women's) and javelin throw.
The list of individuals participating in the NCAA West Preliminary in their respective events are Kyle Alcine, Kyle Gale, Kamyren Garrett, Jasmine Greer, Antonio Hanson, Tommi Hintnaus, Travis Hodge, Kassidy Johnson, Kade McCall, Wurrie Njadoe, Joe Placek, Luke Ralston, Devon Richardson, Emma Robbins, Tejaswin Shankar, Hadley Splechter, Velecia Williams and Shalysa Wray.
In the 4x400-meter relay, K-State will send Sean Wilson, Hanson, Tim Lambert, Jr. and Gale for the men's relay and Njadoe, O'Shalia Johnson, Wray and Alex Ferguson for the women's relay.
These individuals and relays will get a chance to qualify for the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon at Hayward Field on June 8-11.
Njadoe and Richardson are looking to advance in multiple events with Njadoe in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash and Richardson in the long jump and triple jump.
The 2022 NCAA West Preliminary will mark Shankar's fourth regional in the high jump. Ralston and McCall will participate in their second straight regional meet with Ralston in the men's javelin and McCall in the men's hammer throw.
Hintnaus and Robbins will make their first appearance at the West regional as a member of the K-State track and field team.
K-State competed at the Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Lubbock, Texas on May 13-15. McCall and Robbins placed third in the hammer throw with the men's 4x400-meter relay team placing second overall with a school-record time of 3:04.27 on a track with altitude.
The women's 4x400-meter relay crew took home third place with a time of 3:35.08. Kassidy Johnson ran in the women's 1,500-meter finals and finished in third with a time of 4:23.79.
Shankar placed third in his first career decathlon event with a total of 7,592 points, while freshman Emil Uhlin was close behind in fourth place with 7,587 points.
The 2022 NCAA West Preliminary will commence on Wednesday (May 25) with the men's hammer throw at 10 a.m., CT. The meet will be streamed on the SEC Network with live results from Flash Results.
