
Johnson Claims CoSIDA Academic All-America Second Team

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Senior distance runner Kassidy Johnson was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Second Team, the organization announced on Tuesday (June 21).
This is Johnson's third academic award after being named to Academic All-Big 12 First Team on May 3 and CoSIDA Academic All-District 7 First Team on May 27. She was one of 22 individuals from K-State on the cross country team listed on the Academic All-Big 12 First Team.
During the indoor season, Johnson set the school record in the women's 800-meter run at the 2022 NCAA Indoor Championships in Birmingham, Alabama. Johnson clocked in a time of 2:03.95 during the semifinals and placed second in her heat, qualifying her for finals. The following day, Johnson broke the record set again with a time of 2:03.93 and finished fifth overall, earning All-America honors.
At the 2022 NCAA West Preliminary on May 26, Johnson recorded a time of 2:05.00 in the 800-meter run and found a spot to compete at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
Johnson finished up her career in 14th place in the semifinals at the NCAA Outdoor Championships and received Second Team All-America honors with a time of 2:03.85.
For the last four seasons, Johnson has posted a 4.0 GPA while majoring in Dietetics, Nutrition and Health and Spanish.
Thirty-one members of the Academic All-America Division I women's track & field/cross country teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school. The 15 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.95, with the entire women's team holding a collective average GPA of 3.90.
The CoSIDA Academic All-America program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions – NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
