
Five Wildcats Earn Academic All-Big 12 Honors

MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State sent five student-athletes, including first-team selections Dylan Phillips and Cameron Uselton, onto the 2022 Academic All-Big 12 Baseball Teams, the conference office announced Thursday.
Additionally, Brady Day, Raphael Pelletier and Terrence Spurlin each garnered Academic All-Big 12 Second Team honors.
Phillips collected the third Academic All-Big 12 First Team award of his career while Spurlin garners second-team accolades for the fourth straight season. Day, Pelletier and Uselton each earn the initial honors of their respective careers.
K-State has totaled 42 academic all-conference selections in four seasons under head coach Pete Hughes.
First-team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while second-team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or in the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
In total, 121 student-athletes across the Big 12 were recognized on this year's Academic All-Big 12 Baseball Teams. There were 96 first-team members and 25 second-team honorees.
The Wildcats finished the 2022 season with a 29-29 record (8-16 Big 12) and reached the semifinal round of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship for the second consecutive season.
