
K-State Find More Success Against Illinois in Day Three of TCU Invitational

Fourth day of the TCU Invitational starts at 1 p.m. with doubles matches
FORT WORTH, Texas- The K-State women's tennis team competed against Illinois on Saturday (Oct. 28) in the third day of the TCU Invitational, featuring three set battles and high scoring doubles match ups, at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center in Fort Worth, Texas.
All three freshmen—Jillian Harkin, Charlotte Keitel and Tereza Polakova—recorded a consecutive singles win, along with a third straight doubles victory for Polakova and junior Veronika Kulhava.
In those three set singles matches, the Wildcats saw two victories. Keitel dropped her second set before overcoming Kassia Treiber in the third, winning 6-4, 3-6, 10-1. Similarly, Harkin fell short in the first set but battled back to defeat Rosie Seccia, 3-6, 6-4, 10-3. Senior Aleen Quamar showed promise against Alice Xu, claiming the first set 6-2, but ultimately could not gain momentum, falling short, 6-2, 5-7, 8-10.
Polakova claimed a win in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, over Megan Heuser. Sophomore Maria Santos could not repeat yesterday's success, dropping a two set match against McKenna Schaefbauer, 6-2, 6-2.
All three duos competed in doubles matches, with Polakova and Kulhava extending their winning streak to three with a win over Josie Frazier and Schaefbauer, 7-5.
Harkin and Keitel competed in two matches, both in a tiebreaker decision. The pair dropped their first match against Violeta Martinez and Treiber of Illinois, 7-6 (7-5), but saw success in an extra match, defeating BYU's Kendall Kovick and Elizabeth Tullis, 7-6 (7-5).
Quamar and Santos could not gain momentum, falling short against Heuser and Xu, 6-3.
The fourth and final day of the invite starts at 1 p.m. on Sunday (Oct. 29) with doubles matches, singles matches following.
