
Suarez Finished Top-Five in Parapan American Games

During the fall season she is 2-3 in singles matches, 4-3 in doubles
MANHATTAN, Kan.- K-State women's tennis sophomore Vanesa Suarez competed in the Pan American/Parapan American games in Santiago, Chile last week for her home country of Venezuela, where she finished in the top-five.
Suarez competed in four singles matches over five days, ultimately reaching the quarterfinal round. Competition started on Oct. 23, in the round of 64 where she battled in her only three set match of the week, 4-6, 6-0, 6-2 over Andrea Weedon.
She delivered two straight set victories in the round of 32 and 16, first facing a second set tiebreaker to defeat Columbia's Fernanda Herazo, 6-4, 7-6 (8-6) before defeating Romina Ccuno of Peru, 6-1, 6-3.
On Friday, Oct. 27, she competed in the quarterfinal round where she fell short, 6-4, 6-2 to Julia Reira of Argentina.
Suarez also competed in one mixed doubles match with partner Brandon Perez, being defeated 6-4, 6-4 by American team Jamie Loeb and Tristan Boyer.
To start the fall season, she tallied a 2-3 record in singles matches, losing to ranked opponent, #40 Ange Oby Kajuru, in her last match-up 6-1, 6-2. With doubles partner, senior Manami Ukita, they have a 4-3 record through three tournaments.
Suarez will join the team for the Big 12 Fall Championship in Waco, Texas, starting on Thursday, Nov. 9, at the Hurd Tennis Center, hosted by Baylor.
