
K-State Ready for Indoor Season with Bob Timmons Challenge

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The K-State track and field team kick off the indoor season on Saturday (Dec. 2) in the Bob Timmons Challenge in Lawrence, Kan., hosted by Kansas at Anschutz Pavilion.
Field events will begin at 11 a.m., CT with the men's weight throw, the track events starting at 12 p.m., CT with the women's 3,000 meter run.
The Wildcats look to compete with the majority of the roster, including a multitude of women's throwers, featuring juniors Monique Hardy and Grace Thompson and seniors Jasmine Greer and 2023 All-American Emma Robbins.
The team will also showcase some new faces with five freshmen and five transfers, including notables-- juniors Daisy Monie (throws/Houston) and James Ezeonu (sprints/Iowa State).
Monie's best shot put throw of 15.70m/51-6.25 ranks among the top-10 K-State indoor records at no. 8. Ezeonu, a native of Cork, Ireland, competed mainly last indoor season in the 60 meter hurdles with a personal best of 8.08 seconds, around no. 10 in the K-State records.
The freshman class includes a strong group of sprinters, with experience in relay competition, including Lee's Summit, Missouri native Mikah Scott and Tyrique Lewis from Sanford, Florida. During the 2022 Nike Outdoor Nationals, Scott's relay teams of 4x100, 4x200 and Sprint Medley were all crowned champions. Lewis competed in the 2022 USATF Junior Olympics where his 4x400 and 4x100 teams finished runner-up and third place, respectively.
This will be K-State's one competition before the end of the year before returning in January to kick off the rest of the indoor season.
