This is the first batch of commits for the rowing team for 2024-25
MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State rowing head coach Patrick Sweeney announced on Wednesday (Dec. 6) the commitment of 16 women to the 2024-25 roster.
"We are excited for this incoming class and the depth they will add to our team," Sweeney said. "[Assistant coaches] Kennedy Felice and Taylor Hartman have done a great job connecting with future athletes and helping push the program forward. Our recruiting model has continued to work, finding competitive high school athletes, and building them up. We're looking forward to seeing how each of these commits will contribute to our program."
The commitment class is comprised of athletes from across the region with a variety of sport backgrounds. K-State has continued to maintain the majority of their recruiting focus on out-of-sport athletes with little to no prior experience in rowing.
"I am really excited for this incoming class!" Hartman said. "We have recruited some very strong and athletic women that have a lot of potential and I look forward to seeing what they can do next fall."
"We are so excited to add this group of commits to the team. This group of young women are competitive, athletic, and have made it clear they are not afraid of a challenge," Felice said. "This team is special, and a big part of that is the people who have been brave enough to say yes to this opportunity. We cannot wait to see the impact that each of these athletes will have on our team."
Commits (Listed in Alphabetical Order):
Hailey Black is a basketball player from Kansas City, Mo. attending North Kansas City High School. Black is looking to try something new after visiting campus and meeting the team. "Being part of the team will enhance my K-State journey by forming hopefully long-lasting friendships that go beyond rowing. It'll also build a network for my future. Plus, I'll have the chance to not just attend but also proudly represent K-State!"
Aydan Bryan, from Medicine Lodge, Kan., attends Medicine Lodge High School where she competes in multiple sports, including volleyball, basketball, track and field and powerlifting. Bryan is excited to become a D1 athlete for the relationships she will build and the resources available at K-State. "Joining the team will add so much to my K-State experience, I think the biggest factors include having a life away from classes," Bryan said. "I will always have people in my corner that will be my second family upon entering college, and I can continue to compete and push myself every day to be better for the team."
Maxine Doering is a native of Manhattan, Kan. where she plays basketball and competes in track and field for Manhattan High. "Joining the rowing team at K-State will provide me with the experience of performing at the D1 level and allowing me to be a part of a team of girls that enjoy pushing themselves to learn something new," Doering said. "I think this will be a positive experience in my time at KSU and I'm very excited to be a part of the rowing family!"

Kendall Huber is from Barnhart, Mo., running in cross country and track and field for Herculaneum High School. Sienna Jones, from Alma, Kan., competes in three sports—wrestling, track and field and cheer—for Wabaunsee High School. I'm excited to experience every aspect of being a D1 student athlete," Jones said. "Everyone I have talked to that is or was on the team has told me it's one of the best things they have done and highly encouraged me; encouraging me to continue learning about their program so I could share their K-State rowing experience."

Miller says she's excited about the people and support she'll receive while competing and completing her education. "Rowing is a physically and mentally challenging sport.
