K-State Heads to Texas For TCU, Tech Matchups

Wildcats face TCU first at 2:30 p.m. on Friday
MANHATTAN, Kan. - The K-State women's tennis team travels to Texas for the last two road matches of the regular season against No. 56 TCU and No. 43 Texas Tech.

The Wildcats (2-14, 0-4 Big 12) face the Horned Frogs (7-4, 0-2 Big 12) on Friday (March 24) at 2:30 p.m. at the Bartzen Varsity Courts.

K-State is 2-6 against TCU but was victorious in the last meeting during the first round of the Big 12 Championships last season, 4-2. In that last meeting on April 21 in Fort Worth, Texas, Rosanna Maffei's match against Helena Narmont was left unfinished in three sets.

TCU has one ranked doubles team at No. 67 with Helena Narmont and Yu-Chin Tsai, and one ranked singles player in Mercedes Aristegui at No. 123.

K-State will face the Red Raiders (10-6, 0-2 Big 12) at 10 a.m. on Sunday (March 26) at the McLeod Tennis Center.

The Wildcats are 0-8 against Texas Tech, losing last season at home, 4-0.

Texas Tech has two top-50 ranked doubles teams of Metka Komac and Cristina Tiglea at No. 47 as well as Metka Komac and Avelina Sayfetdinova at No. 50.

Both the Horned Frogs and Red Raiders dropped their first two conference matches against Oklahoma State and Oklahoma last weekend.

Last weekend, K-State fell in both matches to Texas, 6-1, and Baylor, 4-2.

Against the Longhorns, freshman Vanesa Suarez defeated her second straight ranked opponent in No. 101 Sabina Zeynalova, 7-6 (7-4), 6-4.

Against the Bears, the Wildcats had two victories, as sophomore Florentine Dekkers defeated her second ranked opponent in No. 92 Isabella Harvison, 7-6 (9-7), 7-5, and junior Aleen Quamar got back in the win column with a win over Daniella Dimitrov, 7-6 (7-4), 6-1.
