
K-State to Compete in Mt. SAC Relays in California

Most of the Wildcats are set to compete at the meet beginning Thursday
MANHATTAN, Kan. – The K-State men's and women's outdoor track and field teams are competing in the Mt. SAC Relays on Thursday (April 13) through Saturday (April 15) in Walnut, Calif., at the Hilmer Lodge Stadium hosted by the Mt. San Antonio College.
The competition will begin at 7 p.m., CT on Thursday with the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase. Friday's schedule will start at 1 p.m., CT with the women's 4x400-meter relay, while events on Saturday begin at 11 a.m., CT with the women's hammer throw.
Most of the team is expected to compete in the traditionally strong Mt. SAC Relays after a small contingent of multi athletes competed at the Jim Click Combined Events April 7-8 in Tucson, Ariz. Juniors Urte Bacianskaite and Maddie Righter competed in the women's heptathlon, along with sophomore Emil Uhlin in the men's decathlon. Bacianskaite was second in the heptathlon with a new personal-best 5,691 points, while Righter placed seventh in her first heptathlon with 5,095 points. Uhlin took fourth in the decathlon with 7,440 points.
K-State's women heptathletes are currently No. 1 in the USTFCCCA Event Squad rankings that were released on Monday (April 10). A qualifying school must have four athletes compete in an event with their top marks tallied for total score. Bacianskaite, Righter and freshmen Babs Koeman and Delaney Wright have all competed in the heptathlon once this outdoor season with a combined total of 19,950 points for an average of 4,898.
Individually, Bacianskaite and junior Emma Robbins place in the top-10 of the NCAA Division I rankings. Bacianskaite's score of 5,691 points at the Jim Click Combined Events is third in the NCAA women's heptathlon, while Robbins' mark of 65.94m/216-4 at the Bobcat Invitational on March 30 places ninth in the women's hammer throw.
