K-State Faces Kansas at Home in Sunflower Showdown

Match begins at 12 p.m. at the Mike Goss Tennis Stadium
MANHATTAN, Kan.- The K-State women's tennis team faces off against Kansas on Saturday (April 8) at 12 p.m., CT at the Mike Goss Tennis Stadium. Admission is free and open to the public.

K-State (2-16, 0-6 Big 12) will be looking for its first win against No. 21 Kansas (13-4, 3-3 Big 12) since a 4-3 victory at home in 2021. Last season, the Wildcats lost 4-0 in Lawrence.

Kansas has one ranked singles players, No. 59 Malkia Ngounoue, and one ranked doubles team in Ngounoue and Heike Janse Van Vuuren at No. 47.

The Wildcats had a bye week last week, last competing on March 26 against No. 43 Texas Tech in Lubbock, losing 6-1. Freshman Rozalia Gruszczynska won the only point for K-State, beating Arina Oreshchenkova in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3, for her first Big 12 win of the season.

Kansas' three Big 12 losses were all by scores of 6-1, losing at No. 10 Iowa State and back-to-back against No. 14 Texas and at No. 43 Texas Tech. The Jayhawks have won 2 in a row, including 4-1 at TCU and 4-0 at home to Tulsa.
