
Neighbors Earns CSC Academic All-District Honors

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Sophomore Tyson Neighbors was selected to the 2023 Academic All-District Team by the College Sports Communicators (CSC), formally known as CoSIDA, announced by the organization Tuesday.
Neighbors, who boasts a 3.85 grade point average in professional strategic selling, becomes the 26th Wildcat to be named to the Academic All-District team and fourth under head coach Pete Hughes.
The Royse City, Texas product leads the Big 12 with 10 saves, ranking 11th among all Division I players. Neighbors has totaled 70 strikeouts this season and is just one of two relief pitchers to rank among the Top 10 in the conference leaderboard.
In 22 appearances, Neighbors has earned a decision in 15 games, including a record of 4-1. He has totaled 38 1/3 innings, issuing just 12 walks with opponents hitting .109 against him.
Neighbors was named to the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Midseason Watch List and was selected as the division's top reliever by D1Baseball.com.
On April 10, he was named the Co-Big 12 Pitcher of the Week for his dominating performance in the Cats victory over Texas, striking out eight of the final 11 batters.
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced July 7.
The Wildcats (32-20, 12-9 Big 12) wrap up the regular season this weekend when they host TCU (30-21, 11-10 Big 12) in the final Big 12 set starting on Thursday, May 18 at 6 p.m. inside Tointon Family Stadium. K-State will honor graduating players and staff prior to Saturday's series finale.
