MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State head coach Grant Robbins announced today that veteran Big 12 men's golfer JP Roller will join the Wildcats for the 2023-24 season.
A native of Jenks, Oklahoma, Roller comes to Manhattan from Texas Tech where he has gained championship experience after entering college as one of the top prep players in Oklahoma.
"We are excited about the addition of JP to our program," Robbins said. "He is a tremendous player and an even better person. He brings a great deal of experience having been ranked as one of the top players in the country out of high school and being part of a top-10 program at Texas Tech. We knew what kind of player he was, but we were even more impressed with him as a person as we got to know him throughout this process. He will make an immediate impact here both on and off the course."
The No. 2 player in the state of Oklahoma coming out of high school, Roller tallied a pair of top-10 finishes this past season at Texas Tech – his third season in Lubbock – as he tied for fourth at The Prestige with an even-par 216 and tied for sixth at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate after firing a 2-under par 211. In five events during the 2022-23 campaign, Roller tallied a 72.80 stroke average.
During his freshman season of 2020-21, Roller was a member of the Red Raider squad that competed in the NCAA Championship, a year he recorded a 73.71 stroke average with a season-low round of 68 at the DBU Classic.
Roller is part of a three-man signing class for the Wildcats as he is joined by incoming freshmen Bryant Pohill of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Harry Bent of Gullane, Scotland.
