Bacianskaite Finishes Heptathlon Day One in 12th Place

Final day of competition starts tomorrow at 4 p.m. CT with the long jump
AUSTIN, Texas – Junior Urte Bacianskaite started competition in the women's heptathlon on Friday (June 9) in the NCAA Championships at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas.
After the first four events she sits in 12th place with 3,446 points, the highlight of the day was her runner-up performance in the shot put with a new personal best throw of 15.19m/49-10, better than her previous best from the Big 12 Championship from May 12-13 with her winning throw of 15.02m/49-3.50.
In the three other events she finished 21st in both the 100 meter hurdles, in 14.36 second (+3.2), and the high jump clearing a height of 1.66m/5-5.25.
In the final event of the day, the 200 meter dash, she finished 19th in 25.54 seconds (+1.6).
The current women's heptathlon leader is junior Jenelle Rogers from Ball State with 3,840 points.
Saturday (June 10) Bacianskaite finishes competition in the last three heptathlon events, starting with the long jump at 4 p.m., CT, followed by the javelin throw and 800 meters.
