
Bolding, Carter Tabbed to All-Big 12 Preseason Team

IRVING, Texas – K-State's Sydney Bolding and Aliyah Carter were named to the 2023 All-Big 12 Volleyball Preseason Team as the league announced its preseason awards Tuesday.
This marks the first time since 2015 that K-State had multiple players voted to the All-Big 12 Preseason Team and fourth overall in school history. In total, 16 players earned preseason team recognition as five schools had multiple players picked by the conference's 13 head coaches.
Bolding and Carter, two of the 10 returning letterwinners for K-State's upcoming season, earned their first and third career Big 12 Preseason Team honors.
Starting every match for K-State last season, Bolding picked up her first conference preseason honor as she finished second in the league with a team-leading 141 blocks. Her average of 1.32 blocks per set finished 30th in the nation, leading to All-Big 12 Second Team and AVCA All-Midwest Region Honorable Mention honors.
A 6-foot-5 middle blocker from Pickens, S.C., she has produced 24 matches with five or more blocks during her two seasons at K-State, including a career-best 10 at TCU last season.
Carter, a 2020 AVCA Midwest Region and Big 12 Freshman of the Year, has turned in 15 career double-doubles alongside 13 outings with 20 or more kills which ranks sixth in the career leaderboard. Her current career average of 3.70 kills per set is third in K-State history during the rally-scoring era.
The Dubuque, Iowa product is just six kills away from becoming the 19th Wildcat to reach the 1,000 kills milestone.
As a team, K-State was selected eighth in the conference preseason poll.
The Wildcats officially open the 2023 season on Friday, August 25 at the Hotel Vance Rose City Showdown hosted by Portland State at Viking Pavilion.
The home slate begins on Sept. 1 against Omaha in the first-ever contest held at Morgan Family Arena. Led by first-year head coach Jason Mansfield, 11 returners will be joined by three incoming freshmen and two transfers.
