K-State’s Ukita and Suarez Drop First Match in ITA All-Americans

The pair will compete tomorrow in the consolation bracket

CARY, N.C.- The K-State women's tennis team was represented by one doubles pair in the ITA All-Americans on Saturday (Sept. 30) at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C.

Senior Manami Ukita and sophomore Vanesa Suarez competed in the doubles prequalifying round against East Carolina's Ines Bachir and Alisha Hussain in an eight game pro set, being defeated, 8-2.

In the first fall invitational of the year last weekend in Charlotte, N.C., Ukita and Suarez competed in two matches, dropping the first match to Charlotte's Lucia Quiterio and Ares Teixido Garcia, 8-5, before defeating the 49er's Ruxi Schech and Lucie Petruzelova, 6-1, on the second day of competition.

The pair will compete Sunday (Oct. 1) in the consolation bracket against Colorado State's Sarka Richterova and Viktoryia Zhadzinskaya at 5:30 p.m., CT.
