It will be the first game of a men's and women's basketball doubleheader at Bramlage Coliseum, as the No. 9-ranked women's team (6-1) plays Central Arkansas (4-1) at 3:30 p.m., CT. This will be the sixth meeting between K-State and UAPB and the first since 2019. The Wildcats are 5-0 all-time against the Golden Lions, including a 62-51 win in the last meeting on Nov. 19, 2019. K-State is 20-1 all-time vs. teams from the SWAC, all coming at home.

LAST TIME OUT
Senior Coleman Hawkins collected his first double-double in a Wildcat uniform with game-highs in both points (19) and rebounds (10) to go with 5 assists, as K-State defeated Longwood, 80-64, in the third-place game of the Paradise Jam on Nov. 25. He is the first Wildcat with at least 19 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists in a game since Cam Carter did it against Oral Roberts in 2023.

Hawkins, who also tallied 2 steals and 2 blocks, propelled a K-State offense that set season highs for field goal percentage (58.9) and 3-point field goal percentage (55.0) in ending the Paradise Jam on a winning note. He knocked down 5 of the Wildcats' 11 made 3-point field goals while connecting on 7-of-10 from the field. It marked his seventh career double-double.

Hawkins was joined in double figures by juniors Brendan Hausen (16 points) and Dug
McDaniel (11 points) and senior David N'Guessan (10 points), while sophomore Macaleab Rich added 8 points. Hawkins was named to the Paradise Jam All-Tournament Team after averaging 13.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.7 blocks per game in the 3-game tournament.

KEY STORYLINES
  • K-State went 2-1 at the Paradise Jam, defeating George Washington (83-71) and Longwood (80-64) in between a 67-65 loss to eventual tournament champion Liberty. The Wildcats averaged 76 points in 3-game tournament on 51.7 percent shooting, including 38.6 percent from 3-point range, while allowing 67.3 points on 41 percent shooting, including 31.7 percent from long range.
  • It's still a small sample size (7 games) but K-State seems to be a better scoring team, averaging 76.1 points on 47 percent shooting, including 34.7 percent from 3-point range with 8.3 makes per game. The Wildcats have already hit on better than 50 percent from the field as well as double-digit 3-pointers in 3 games. The team is 5-0 when scoring 70 or more points and 0-2 when they don't.
  • Newcomers have combined to score 408 (76.6 percent) of the team's 533 points, including 18 of the 25 double-digit scoring games. Senior returner David N'Guessan (21, 12, 16, 10, 17, 10 and 10 points) is the only Wildcat to score in double figures in the first 7 games, but the next 6 highest scorers are newcomers, including 5 double-digit scoring efforts by junior Brendan Hausen and 3 each by seniors Coleman Hawkins and Max Jones and junior Dug McDaniel.

A K-STATE WIN WOULD…
  • Give the Wildcats a 6-0 record vs. UAPB.
  • Move the Wildcats to 21-1 vs. SWAC opponents at home.
  • Move coach Jerome Tang to 33-5 at Bramlage Coliseum.
  • Give the Wildcats an 187-57 non-conference mark since 2006.
