Wildcats to Host Five Meets in First Season Under Geopfert

Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Travis Geopfert is set to begin his first season at the helm, announcing the 2024-25 track schedule on Monday (Dec. 16), highlighted by five home meets, four of them at the recently named Cliff Rovelto Indoor Track.
 
The Wildcats will start the indoor season on January 17, hosting the KU-KSU-WSU Triangular for the first time since 2018. The following day, January 18, is the inaugural Thane Baker Invitational.
 
K-State will hit the road for the first time on January 24 in the Red Raider Invitational hosted by Texas Tech at the Sports Performance Center in Lubbock, Texas.
 
The team will be back in Manhattan to host two more meets, the DeLoss Dodds Invitational on January 31-February 1, then the Steve Miller Invitational a week later on February 7.
 
Prior to the postseason, the Wildcats will head to Geopfert's old stomping grounds, Fayetteville, Ark., for the Tyson Invitational on February 14-15 at Tyson Indoor Track.
 
The Cats will head back to Lubbock, Texas for the Big 12 Championship on February 28-March 1, hosted by the Red Raiders for the third consecutive year. This year the NCAA Indoor Championship will be in Virginia Beach, Va., on March 14-15 at Virginia Beach Sports Center.
 
The outdoor schedule will start later than years past, beginning on April 4 at the John Jacobs Invitational hosted by Oklahoma in Norman, Okla. Back in Kansas, the Wildcats will head to Wichita for the KT Woodman Classic on April 11-12, hosted by Wichita State.
 
K-State was invited to compete in a head-to-head televised meet by Oregon in a team invitational on April 18-19 in Eugene, Ore., at Hayward Field. The team then looks to participate in the Drake Relays on April 23-26 in Des Moines, Iowa, for the first time since the 2021-22 season.
 
Wrapping up the regular season at home, the Wildcats will host the Ward Haylett Invitational on May 9 at R.V. Christian Track. The Big 12 Championship comes to Lawrence, Kan., on May 15-17 at Rock Chalk Park, hosted by Kansas for the first time since 2017.
 
The NCAA postseason starts with the NCAA West Preliminary in College Station, Texas, hosted by Texas A&M on May 28-31. The NCAA Outdoor Championship is in Eugene for the second consecutive season on June 11-14, at Hayward Field.
