Bernat Selected to Participate in Augusta National Women’s Amateur

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State junior women's golfer Carla Bernat has been selected to compete in the Augusta National Women's Amateur, which will be held April 3-6, at Champions Retreat Golf Club and Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia.
Bernat received and accepted her official invitation from the Board of Governors of the Augusta National Golf Club and Chairman Fred S. Ridley on Tuesday. This is the second time Bernat has been selected to play in the event – which is in its fifth year – as she also competed in 2022.
The Augusta National Women's Amateur features an international field of 72 women amateurs who will compete over 54 holes of stroke play. The first two rounds will take place at Champions Retreat on April 3 and 4 after which a cut will take place, advancing the leading 30 players and ties to the final round at Augusta National Golf Club on April 6.
A native of Castellon, Spain, Bernat leads the Wildcats with a 70.28 stroke average with a top-15 finish in four of her six events this season. She has carded a 7-under par 209 in each event this spring, which has resulted in a pair of third-place finishes. Earlier this season, Bernat earned her first victory as a Wildcat when she carded a 5-under par 211 at the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational held at Colbert Hills.
Bernat is ranked No. 36 in the latest World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR), and this is the second time this season she will compete in a world-renowned amateur event as she also competed in the World Amateur Team Championship in October.
The first and second rounds of the Augusta National Women's Amateur will be broadcast live on Golf Channel (1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. CT) from Champions Retreat Golf Club. NBC Sports will produce and broadcast three hours (11 a.m. to 2 p.m. CT) of live final-round coverage of the event at Augusta National. Additionally, Golf Channel's "Live From the Masters" will commence on Friday, April 5, at Augusta National to provide coverage of the Augusta National Women's Amateur, the Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals and the Masters Tournament.
