Women Compete in Day Two of NCAA West Preliminary

First events on day three begins at 10 a.m. with the men's discus
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – K-State track and field competed in day two of the NCAA West Preliminary on Thursday (May 23), the first day of competition for the women at John McDonnell Field.
In the women's hammer throw, junior Monique Hardy landed just outside the top-12 that advance to Eugene, Ore., with a 13th place throw of 60.21m/197-6. Senior Charlotte Cattermole-Williams also competed with a distance of 54.42m/178-6, finishing 40th.
Four women competed in the shot put, senior Jaycee Schroeder leading the Wildcats in 25th place with a new personal best throw of 16.44m/53-11.25. Competing in her first event of the week, junior Daisy Monie finished 29th with a distance of 16.09m/52-9.50. Senior Jasmine Greer finished another four spots behind, placing 33rd at 15.75m/51-8.25. Junior Grace Thompson recorded a throw of 14.67m/48-1.75, finishing 45th.
Sophomore Jourdin Edwards competed in her first postseason NCAA race, finishing 37th in the first round of the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:00.22.
During the men's final day of competition on Friday (May 24), K-State will compete in the discus throw at 11 a.m. CT, before the high jump at 11:30 a.m. On the track is the 3,000 meter steeplechase at 2:40 p.m., before the triple jump starts at 3 p.m. Senior Eugene Omalla will compete in the 400 meter dash semifinal at 3:50 p.m. ahead of the men's 4x400 relay will finish the day at 5:45 p.m.
