MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Kansas State men's golf team saw three of its players earn Academic All-Big 12 accolades as the conference office released the list of its spring sports academic honors on Tuesday.
Junior Cooper Schultz and sophomore Ben Stoller picked up first-team honors, while senior Luke O'Neill was named to the second team. It was the first Academic All-Big 12 honor for all three players, while it was the most K-State men's golfers honored since the 2020-21 season.
On the course, Schultz led the team with a 71.12 scoring average, which ranked third in school history as he produced six top-20 finishes, including a pair of top-five showings. The Andover, Kansas, native enters his senior campaign with a 71.80 career scoring average to currently hold the school record.
Stoller competed in three events this past season and posted a 77.50 scoring average. A product of Owasso, Oklahoma, Stoller's low round of the year was an even-par 72 he put together during the first round of the season-opening Wildcat Invitational.
A native of Connemara, Ireland, O'Neill recorded a 72.71 scoring average with four top-20 finishes during his final season in the program. He concluded his career ranked fourth in school history with a 72.74 scoring average.
First-team members of the Academic All-Big 12 teams consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, while the second-team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
