K-State Track Records 40 Wildcats to Academic All-Big 12 Teams

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The K-State track and field teams feature 40 men and women on the Academic All-Big 12 Teams as announced by the conference on Tuesday (July 2).

The 40 athletes, 14 men and 26 women, rounded up 34 First-Team honors with four Wildcats earning a 4.00 GPA-- Tim Lambert, Sydney Burton, Cecilia Fisher and Helen Giefer. Burton and Giefer each earned their fourth consecutive 4.00 GPA as fifth-year seniors.

In the last five seasons, the Wildcats have recorded 216 academic conference honors.

First-Team honors are maintained by a 3.20 GPA or higher, the Second-Team selections with a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

To qualify, student-athletes must also have competed in the program for one previous year and have competed in 20 percent of the team's scheduled contests.
