Wildcats Win Two on Final Day of K-State Invitational

Maralgood Chogsomjav and Maria Santos each picked up singles wins
MANHATTAN, Kan. – Sophomore Maralgoo Chogsomjav and junior Maria Santos each picked up singles wins to highlight the Wildcats' action on the final day of the K-State Invitational on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 22) at Body First Fitness Center.

Chogsomjav won in straight sets of Arkansas' Jimena Gomez Alonso, 6-3, 6-2, while Santos swept Wichita State's Clara Whitaker, 6-2, 6-4.

Teammates junior Sana Garakani and senior Veronika Kulhava each lost in tiebreakers, as Garakani couldn't finish the weekend off undefeated in singles play, losing to Wichita State' Kristina Kudryavtseva, 6-1, 1-6, 8-10. Kulhava battled back from a first set loss before falling to the Shockers' Giorgia Roselli, 3-6, 6-4, 4-10.

The Wildcats finished the three-day home tournament with 10 victories, including eight singles wins. Garakani was responsible for three victories, including singles wins over players from South Florida and Arkansas.

K-State completed play at the ITA All-American Championship in Cary, N.C., at Cary Tennis Park, as sophomore Charlotte Keitel lost in straight sets to Appalachian State's Savannah Dada-Mascoll, 6-3, 6-4, in the round of 64. In the consolation bracket, sophomore Tereza Polakova came back to defeat Georgia Tech's Alejandra Cruz in three sets, 4-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-2.
