Track and Field Host Two-Day DeLoss Dodds Invitational

The combined events will begin on Friday at 12 p.m.

The K-State track and field teams are set to host its third meet of the season with the two-day DeLoss Dodds Invitational on Friday-Saturday (Jan. 31- Feb. 1) at the Cliff Rovelto Indoor Track. Admission is free and open to the public.
 
Teams set to compete with the Wildcats include fellow Big 12 Conference schools Baylor and Oklahoma State, as well as Northern Iowa, San Diego State and South Dakota. Other teams sending athletes to compete in the women's pentathlon and men's heptathlon are Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Wichita State.
 
In the first combined events meet of the year, the multis will start competition on Friday at 12 and 12:20 p.m. with the pentathlon 60 meter hurdles and heptathlon 60 meter dash. The field events will begin at 5:30 p.m. ahead of the six tracks events starting at 6:15 p.m.
 
In the combined events, freshmen Vera Gerasimova of Russia and Tommaso Franze from Italy will represent the Cats.
 
In the previous meet at the Red Raider Invitational (Jan. 24) K-State saw success in the field events with multiple athletes performing with personal bests landing them in the K-State all-time record books.
 
Junior Gary Moore Jr. recorded his farthest weight throw as runner-up at 21.30m (69' 10 ¾"), no. 4 in the K-State top-10. Senior Daisy Monie recorded her best shot put throw, finishing in 3rd place with a distance of 16.46m (54' 0"), scooting to no. 5 in the all-time records. Lastly, senior Shalom Olotu jumped her furthest in the triple jump with a 5th place distance of 12.91m (42' 4 ¼"), tied for no. 10 in the books with Felicia Curry-Carpenter from 1987.
