Jun 13, 2026 | Track & Field
For the first time in program history two K-State men are crowned champions at the NCAA Outdoor Championship
EUGENE, Ore. – Sophomore Selva Prabhu was crowned the men's triple jump champion on Friday (June 12) during the final day of men's competition at the NCAA Championship at Hayward Field as the men's team finished in 8th place with 30 points.
The 30 points is the most scored at the outdoor championship while finishing 8th is the highest team placing since 1998 when the K-State men landed in 10th place with 25 points. Arkansas won the men's title with 56 points followed by Georgia at runner-up with 49 points.
Prabhu, a native of Madurai, India, climbed to first place with his leap of 16.94m (55' 6.25") and kept the lead the rest of the competition. It was his second-best jump of the season, his best with a legal wind aide. On May 17 he earned the Big 12 Championship title at 17.19m (56' 4.75"), with a wind aide of 4.6.
Prabhu is just the second K-State outdoor champion in the event, Kenny Harrison previously won in 1986 at 17.06m (56' 0"). This is Prabhu's second First Team All-American honors, last season he finished in 5th place at 16.09m.
"He just competed like the champion and the warrior that he is," head coach Travis Geopfert said. "He went out there early, executed early, and won a national title for K-State. So that was a really, really big deal."
Along with long jump champion Tah Chikomba, this season marks the first time in program history that two men were crowned NCAA Champions. This was the second time in five years a school has won the men's outdoor long and triple jump titles, Geopfert did so at Arkansas in 2023 with Carey McLeod and Jaydon Hibbert.
Also competing in the triple jump, Apalos Edwards and Aaron Antoine earned Second Team All-America honors. Edwards finished in 12th place with a distance of 15.99m (52' 5.5") while Antoine landed in 15th place at 15.92m (52' 2.75"). This is Edwards' second Second Team accolade, previously competing in 2023 at LSU, while Antoine competed at outdoor nationals for the first time.
The K-State men finished with four First Team accolades, Prabhu, Chikomba, sophomore Uroy Ryan at 3rd place in the long jump and senior Emil Uhlin in 5th place in the decathlon. That marks the most honors for the Wildcats since 2011 when USTFCCCA dictated the first through eighth place status.
The men's team had three more Second Team All-America honors, freshman Dorian Charles in 10th place in the decathlon, senior Gary Moore Jr. in 12th place in the hammer throw, junior Riley Marx in 15th place in the javelin. The men's 4x400 team, with juniors Nen Matlock and Tavon Underwood, freshman Heath Grant and senior Bongumusa Nkosi earned All American honorable mention with a 17th place time of 3:04.83.
The 2026 NCAA Championship will conclude on Saturday (June 13) with the second day of women's competition. The day will start at 1:30 p.m., CT with the discus throw, the meet can be streamed on ESPN2 starting with the first track event at 7:02 p.m. in the 4x100 relay.
Six Wildcats will finish out their season, freshman Destini Smith and junior Daniela Wamokpego in the triple jump and then the 4x400 relay. The semifinal race featured freshman Desirae Riehle, senior Vanessa Mercera and freshmen Delaney Brinker and Anastasiia Kretova.
